Big Audio Dynamite, Landscape and Propaganda...

What's in the car? A personal music review blog...
Artist: Title: Oustanding Track(s): Review:
Big Audio Dynamite This is Big Audio Dynamite Medicine Show
Stone Thames

Fronted by Mick Jones (ex-The Clash) B.A.D showed the same flair, cynical observation, and sense of humour (check 'Stone Thames') as The Clash, but with less success...

....It also features the best set of Clint Eastwood samples ever...

Landscape From the Tea-rooms of Mars...To the hell-holes of Uranus Einstein a Go-Go
Norman Bates

The Eighties threw up a lot of bands....

Each one is destined for glory...but ultimately destined for a few minutes of fame...

One such band were 'Landscape'...

This, their debut album shows them at their best..but 'Einstein a Go-Go' and 'Normab Bates' really were the best they had to offer...

Propaganda Outside World Das Testament des Dr Mabuse
Duel (Bitter Sweet)

Propaganda hailed from the same stable as Frankie Goes to Hollywood and really deserved more success than they finally received...

Trevor Horn's production does add to this work and makes it shine in some places..

But they are sadly lacking in content; this album features an number of remixes of their most famous works: 'Das Testament des Dr Mabuse' and 'Duel'

That said both the Outstanding Tracks still rock, some fifteen-odd years later..

..while 'Duel' as a vocal track still maintains its intensity of feeling and emotion...

We deserved more...
